Animation Project : Oh Deer (2017)

We were given 4 weeks to create an animated short. The theme was recycling and it was voted on by the class as to which of our 5 proposals would be used. We had to MoCap the majority of the animation.

The battery and the can are all mocaped, aside from the scene where the battery is in the deer's throath. The deer is manually animated.

Inspired by Andy Serkis work on Planet of the Apes, I wanted to make an attempt att mocaping the deer. However, I made a mistake with the root bone of the rig, causing the deer to walk bend downward. As there was no time to fix the issue, I decided to go on and animate it by hand. Fortunately, I had forseen that it wouldn't work properly and had planned for it ahead of time.

It was a fun project to make and while the mocap for the deer might not have gone as I'd hoped, it was still a fun experience and I learned a lot.
